VALE GOUGH WHITLAM

Australia lost a man who can genuinely be regarded as one of the most influential Prime Ministers since federation. A man who moved some monumental reforms in education, health, indigenous rights and family law just to name a few. However attempts since his death to promote him as some sort of diety are seriously misguided, he presided over a cabinet that could have without any doubt stood in as the cast of One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, he was not a political God as some would have him remembered, but even as a conservative it would be difficult to argue that his short term as Prime Minister did not leave a lasting and positive impact on Australian society. A life well lived, can any of us ask for more.
